Hi there,
I’m so glad you landed on my blog!
About me
Maggie is not my real name, but I’ve always loved the sound of it. I’m trying to keep this blog a bit anonymous, so that’s why I’m undercover. I do realize I have an internet trail a mile long, but I’m hoping the people I want to hide this blog for won’t dig that deep.
I was born in 1971, born and raised in The Netherlands. In 2019 my husband and I relocated to Curaçao. My three daughters are all grown-up (I’m not sure when that happened) and living on their own. I have worked as an accountant for several years and I’ve been a reporter/photographer for a local newspaper. Right now I try keep on top of the household chores and I’m also busy helping my husband to run his IT-business.
This blog
I started this blog in 2006 and have stopped and started again very often since then. I have restored my archives and recently went through all my posts to restore missing pictures. Internal links are still a mess and categories are mostly missing. I’m working on it 😉
Writing
I’m a writer of romance novels in Dutch. My first novel was published in 2009 and several followed. I have also written stories for a series of concept novels.
Photography
Taking pictures is my second big passion. I got my first camera when I was twelve years old and I have been loving photography ever since. I didn’t have the money to really practice with it thought, but that changed when I got my first digital camera (a Canon 300D). Since then I have been taking a ridiculous amount of pictures. Currently I use a Canon 1200D (Rebel? I noticed it has a different name in the US) with a Canon 28-80 and a Tamron 50-200 lens. I also have a little Canon Ixus 105, that I use when I don’t feel like carrying around the big camera. To edit my pictures I use Gimp. When we moved to Curaçao I exchanged all my big camera gear for a smaller, but good quality Canon G7X. I want to start editing my pictures better, but these days, I just use the photo app on my computer for small touch ups.
Crafting
Inspired by bloggers like Soulemama I started knitting and sewing (again) in 2006. In fact I started my first English blog to share the things I’ve made. Sadly my knitting has been very slow over the last few years due to arthritis in my hands, but I still love it. Sewing has been also been slow, mainly because I lack the time (or the perseverence to make time for it), but I miss it and want to get back to it.
