Scrap blanket

What to do with scraps like this?

Make a blanket. It’s Soulemama’s idea and I love it. Like her I’m amazed how these colors that I wouldn’t choose to combine in a smaller project seem to just adjust themselves to make a whole that I love more and more each time a new color is added.
If you think about it, it’s like life itself…

Hats for Nest

I’ve always wanted to knit for charity, but most of them ask for “real wool” or at least “natural fibers” and my  budget usually doesn’t allow for those.
Last week I realized I do have real wool. A lot of it actually, since the mountain of yarn I bought two years ago is still not gone.
So I started knitting hats for Nest Maine
I started with a hat using that special stitch from the shawl I made.

And then I made a simple hat

and another one from Soulemama’s pattern.

There was some white wool too. So another Soulemama hat was made.

And one more of .the special stitch hat.

That makes five hats for Nest. Let’s see if I can keep up with Amanda

Growing and adding to the stash

The shawl is growing steadily.

So the stash needed some refilling.
Um, not really. But who can pass this up?

Sorted by color. And besides unusable scraps still a lot of interesting little skeins. I’m already dreaming up projects with this.

But first I’m going to leave it like it is for a while, just to enjoy those colors…

Green and gold

I knit a scarf in two shades of green. Just simple garter stitch.

Of course I wanted a matching hat. So I knit another one of my Soulemama’s favorite pattern. I think it;s the seventh I made, but I lost count. I still love making it.

I still have a lot of that green yarn left, so I started a shawl again. This time I am following the pattern I saw at soulemama’s and I do hope this one will turn out better than the blue one.

And then I’m going to decide what to make with this beautiful yarn I just bought. I love it!

A blue shawl

Well, it looks okay from a distance, but it’s not. It’s scratchy (synthetic yarn), there is a slight color difference (thrifted yarn) and it’s too small.
Still, it was fun to knit and watch it grow. Let’s try that again with better (and more) yarn.
