Ten things I'm loving right now

:: having enjoyed a lazy weekend: sitting, knitting, resting

20081013 (2) (Small)

:: this new Flickr group, making me feel like I could really sit with those other mama’s, sip some tea and chat.
:: my hair being long enough to braid it like this (yes, I know, need to practise a little bit more…)

:: drinking tea. My favorites: greentea with lemon in the morning, Lipton Morocco in the afternoon and a cup of chamomile tea just before bedtime. I also love my newest thrifed teapot. Don’t you love that quirky looking lid?

:: watching our cherry tree change over the seasons (I put the pictures I have made since March in a Flickr set, it will be fun to watch those pictures in a slideshow after a year or so)

:: my new camera (surprise!), making it even more fun to take pictures of everything everywhere.
:: knitting my very first sock. So now I’m a real knitter, isn’t it, Q. ?

20081013a (2) (Small)

:: having a “season table” in the house.  I love how I can put my flowers on there, without having to worry about moving it around (from the diningroomtable where the kids want to make homework, to the coffeetable where it’s blocking the view to the tv, back to the diningroomtable until it’s time to eat etc.

:: the way our cat makes the most out of the little sun we have these days

:: finally being able to list ten things I love in one post. I’ve been loving Amanda’s ten-things-posts, found them really inspiring, but needed a lot of practise in “gratitude” before I could make it up to ten at once.

What are you loving today?

Again

So do I need to link to the pattern or do you know it by now? I’m still enjoying knitting these hats.
I have to admit I tried to knit something else with this yarn but nothing worked. so that’s why I turned to my favorite pattern. Twice.

Knitting update

Um yeah. That pattern again. I know. It’s getting ridiculous. I even used the same yarn as before, since I have quite a lot of it and I do like the result.

I also knit a matching scarf and matching fingerless mitts (basically just a tube with a slit for the thumb).

And I finally started a new, bigger project. Another sweater from the pattern book I knit that very first and the retro cardigan from.

p.s. my camera died, I’m borrowing D.’s camera right now. I still have to get used to it.
p.s. 2  well yes, that’s another one of those hats in purple. What can I say? I like that pattern.

Matching

20080926 (Small)

I bought this beautiful homespun yarn at the fair a few weeks ago, but I only realized just now that it matches the color of my car exactly. The same beautiful gray/lilac shade.
Ha! Now I can make myself a hat to wear in the car!
Um, not that I need a hat in the car, or not that I need another hat. But I really, really want to start making something of that yarn!

Knitting and crochet update

I did a lot of knitting and crochet during my break.

This blanket was not really my idea of fun. I still don’t like the colors. But it is nice and warm and a great stashbuster.

When that was finished I moved on to something fun. I tried knittig a hat on two needles.

And when that worked out allright I decided to try soulemama’s pattern.

And then I made it again. I like to knit that pattern, not too complicated, but not boring either..

I made a matching neck warmer. I panicked first because I forgot to make button holes (it was going to be a scarf and then I changed my mind) but um… holes? Yes, we have those. Duh!

The last scarf was a stashbuster too. The light yarn I already used when I knit all those scarves for Sinterklaas, the dark blue was in my stash for years. It’s funny stuff, but the result is really soft.

Learning to knit

20080715 (Small)

Their vacation has started, computertime stays limited and the weather is not good enough to spent hours in the swimmingpool. So when they got bored, they asked me to teach them to knit. So much fun!

Some knitting

Between sewing curtains and sewing lots of bags I also did some knitting this summer.

A little top. Not really happy about the side seams, but it’s totally wearable.

A dress, knit in the round, so no seams. I’m not sure I’ll wear it, but it was fun to design.

And there has been some (but very little) progress on the blanket. The first part was frogged, since it didn’t work out, but I found some good instruction on logcabin knitting here.
