Scarfs, scarfs, scarfs

It started with a simple scarf for my sister, with leftovers from my cardigan (she liked the colors) and then I thought I might as well knit scarfes for the whole family for Sinterklaas. I had two months left at that point.
Well, some epic knitting followed, but I did it. Thirteen in total (one of which I didn’t give away after all).

I found out some of the pictures I took were blurry after I wrapped them all, but I do have a reasonable group picture. Man, that was fun!

October dishcloth

This is a really intriguing one. Seen from above, it’s just stripes, but when you look closer, it’s… um… an icecream?

Edited to add: The last picture should be the other way around: it’s a candy corn! I never heard about that (I’m from the Netherlands), but there you go.  And yes, I mixed up the colors too, but that’s not the fault of the pattern (I couldn’t find any black cotton).

Another one

I had so much fun with the last one that I didn’t want to wait for the next dishcloth. So I made one from the archives. This is the mid-September pattern.
It’s also the first lace I ever knit.

Dishcloth

In one of the knitting blogs I’m reading I found a link to a dishcloth knitalong. I thought it would be fun to join in.  To be honest, I don’t really have a clue what to use these for (we use brushes or sponges for dishes here), but it’s a fun way to keep knitting and to learn how to read patterns in English.

I love this one. The yarn is really scratchy, but I like how that cat appeared by just alternating between knits and purls.

Oops!

Something bugged me about the picture of the started sleeve in the last post. Then I realized what it was: I started at the wrong end, the shoulder end. So I had to rip it out and start over. Again.
But that’s what you get when you make things up when you go….
To learn to work from patterns, I entered the monthly dishcloth group.
The only problem is that we don’t use dishcloths here in Holland. What are they used for? Wiping, soaking, drying?
Well, anyway, it will be fun to learn new stitches and techniques.
