Embroidery, bags and patchwork

After the first one that I liked so much, I cut into another embroidered piece from the little suitcase.

And after that I used one of my own little designs, I cut the circle out of the fabric I made the bag from and sewed the embroidery behind it..

I used the cutest owl print for the lining.

In the meantime I also messed around with my Anna Maria Horner scraps (and the pieces of the bag I dismantled again – it didn’t work at all). It’s not enough for a quilt, but pillowcases should be possible.

My room

It was time to shake up things in my room (it already moved from the other room to this one). I needed more space to write. I’m working on a new book and I also have plenty to write for the newspaper. I also still wanted room to sew and keep the printers available for the girls. Mission accomplished!

A bag and an apron

What to do when you are preparing for a two week vakation? Make a bag of course. Cause not one of the many bags I have works for what I need now (big, space for my camera, zippered pocket for passport and money). So I cut into my beloved Anna Maria Horner fat quarters.

Of course when I finished it, I could have started packing, but the scraps just seemed to beg me to make an apron out of them.

Okay, now I’ll go pack those suitcases.

My Fair Lady

One of the girls is studying to be a Make-up Artist. For her first exam she needed to create a character from a movie that is set in the 20th century. She chose Eliza from My Fair Lady and I was the one being turned into her.
Right before the exams she heard the others had costumes to help create the desired effect. Oh my. If she had chosen flowergirl Eliza I might have been able to dig something up from my closet, but she wanted Eliza at the horse races in the extravagante black and white outfit. Oh my again.
We looked for rentals, but I’m not that fair anymore and there was nothing in my size. So I had to sew something at the very last minute.

No picture with me in it, it wasn’t that flattering (understatement).

I also made a hat (by covering up an old sunhat), though I never wore it (she had to fix my hair too).

We did have a happy ending luckily. She passed!
