I finished the quilt I made for the neighbors’ twins!
De back is some fabric I had that had exacltly the right colors and the border is made from the pink cover (I had some left) I quilted a sun (circles and beams).

The neighbors just had twins and I thought it would be nice to make them a simple quilt for the girls to play on. These thrifted vintage fabrics were perfect for what I intended to make. The top is finished, now on to the quilting.

I was so happy about those real Anna Maria Horner fabrics that I hardly dared to touch them, let alone cut into them. But what use are fabrics like that? So I set to work anyway.

The result? A bag. For me, of course (selfish, I know).

I had to fill up a page for a book that would be gifted to a friend who’s getting married. This kind of things gives me an acute writer’s block.
At the last moment I came up with this: I sewed a quilt block on some cardboard and glued that to the page.
I added some words about how marriage is similar to patchwork: different people with different backgrounds forming something beautiful together.

This morning a package arrived and I was so happy to see this stack of fat quarters. Officially I knew it was coming, because I won a give away at Soulemama’s. But that was way back in June, so I sort of gave up on it arriving.
I am going to refrain from entering give aways in the US from now on thought, because I had to pay taxes and that makes winning quite expensive.
Still, it was not much to pay for such a pretty stack of fabrics and since since these fabrics are not for sale in the Netherlands (Anna Maria Horner!) I am very happy with it.

This vintage fabric just begged to be an apron. Or at least I thought so. I kept it simple, just straight lines, but I like the result.

I finally finished the quilttop that has been lying around for nine months or so…

I just quilted near the ditch. I do like how that turned out.
The borders are from a thrifted cotton sheet, the back from a flanel sheet. The quilt top was made from thrifted vintage pillow cases and the filling is an old molton.
It’s so cosy and warm!

Well, I do have room to store them now…
And I did actually show a lot of restraint, I think. Just some cotton for quilts I’m planning to make for the girls and some linen for bags and cloths.

Now that I have my own room, there is even more sewing than before. So I made a bag (what else?)

I really like this pattern. The more bags I make, the more I find out how I like them best. I need a long strap, to wear it messenger style, or else I loose it.
I made the front pocket elastic, to prevent my phone from falling out. The front pocket has a few small pockets inside.

The inside has one big pocket.

And it closes with a button.
