Scenes from the weekend

This weekend I have…

… unpacked lots and lots of photo albums and some dear keepsakes (I know, I have to find a way to mend poor Bear’s leg. He’s been like this for years now…)

… started a huge photo decluttering/organizing project (we found out that keeping them in plastic bins is not the best solution in this climate)

… enjoyed working/playing at our new-to-us (bought from a discontinued company) desks
(and yes, that wall needs painting, but that’s just one thing on a very long list of things to do in our office space. There’s a reason I never post pictures of it.)

… decorated a major eyesore in aforementioned office, because we both are not feeling physically capable of removing it right now (very heavy iron bars hat used protect a balcony door that is now a just a window – we removed the balcony and replaced the door)

It was an uneventful, but very good weekend. Wishing you all a great start to your week!

Magic

“Magic exists. Who can doubt it, when there are rainbows and wildflowers, the music of the wind and the silence of the stars? Anyone who has loved has been touched by magic. It is such a simple and such an extraordinary part of the lives we live.”

— Nora Roberts

Wishing you all a great week!

Very sophisticated

I’m sorry that I haven’t been answering your sweet comments, nor reading and commenting on your blogs this week. I had these last few posts prepared, so I decided to go ahead and publish them, but this week has been a rough one. No big stuff, don’t worry, just a bit of sickness and a lot of annoying little things that left me exhausted and burnt out. I hope things will be back to (somewhat) normal next week.

Another one of the patterns on my if-I-ever-get-a-baby-to-knit-for-list was the Baby Sophisticate. And oh my goodness, it’s so, so cute!

I had to adapt the pattern a little bit, but it turned out really well. I had thinner yarn (and thus thinner needles) than the pattern calls for, so I used the amount of stitches to cast on for the bigger size, but kept the length you have to knit at the smaller size. I also added a few stitches (3 at each side) for the underarms, to make the body just a little bit wider.

And then I had to find the right buttons. Oh my. I have so many buttons, but it was really hard to find some for this one.

Still, it ended up just right, I think. Very sophisticated indeed.

(I’m tempted to try and find a pin stripe fabric and make him some very sophisticated trousers to go with this)

A to-do list (sort of)

Let’s just about forget the groceries, the cleaning, the weeding and all those other chores for a while, okay?

Here’s what the fun to-do list in my head looks like:

:: find buttons for newest baby knit (and weave in ends).

:: organize craft stuff (so much more fun than organizing paper clutter, isn’t it?

: make a dress. Or five. (aka: stop hoarding fabric for dresses and start making them)

:: cast on for baby blanket

Now, where to start?

Sunsets

I couldn’t find any “weekend” pictures on my camera or phone this morning. I did find these beautiful sunsets though and I think these actually sum up our weekend quite nicely. We mostly sat and rested and enjoyed the view.

Hope you had a restful weekend too and wishing you all a great start to your week!

Hot

It’s so hot here right now… At first I thought I just wasn’t used to it anymore, after spending so much time in a much colder climate. But Meteo gives out yellow alerts and schools are closing early, so it’s not just me.
I had so many plans for “when we’re finally home”, but I’m letting go of those for now. My body needs rest anyway and my mind could do with a little less stress too. So I’ll be right here. Staying hydrated, knitting, and contemplating if it’s possible to knit in the swimming pool, instead of next to it.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Three things

Three things that make me happy this week:

  1. being home. I know, I’m a broken record about this, but it just makes me so, so happy. The past five months were like a test for me, to find out where my home really is. Well, I am sure now. It’s right here.
  2. sunsets (and being able to see them from our porch)
  3. watching the birds find our feeder again. It took them a week or so, but now it’s business as usual.

Weekend doings

We had a great weekend, full of resting, swimming, knitting, cuddling with Jul (the cat), ending it with our first trip to Kokomo beach in over a year, where our favorite band was playing.

Such a great way to gear up for the week! Not that we plan to have a busy week, we’re still allowing ourselves to recover from the past few months. But we’re also trying to get back into the normal rhythm of our life here, so there will be house and yard work (for me) and some programming (for him).

Wishing you all a great start to your week.
